Security

Security of data is an important concern when considering Cloud Backup. There are two main concerns: Security during transmission of data from your server to our vault and security of data stored in the vault and the vault backup.
Security during transmission
Data is transmitted to our off-site vault over the Internet using highly secure SSL. All data is encrypted during transmission and cannot be read.
Security of storage
All data is encrypted during transmission and then encrypted again when actually stored at the off-site vault. Only you have the encryption key for the off-site vault storage so no-one but you can access your data
Storage Redundancy
All backups are stored at three separate locations:
- On a backup drive installed in your local server or elsewhere on your site which allows instant, local access to backed-up data.
- At a secure off-site vault at our storage facility in Melbourne.
- At a vault backup facility in case of a hardware failure at our vault.
Need more security?
For very high security requirements we offer a fourth level of redundancy for absolutely critical data. This data can automatically be backed up to Amazon S3 storage located in the United States or Singapore (your choice). Data stored at Amazon S3 is encrypted at Amazon and can be recovered directly from Amazon using a dual key encryption release. This enables your mission critical data to be recovered even in the highly improbable scenario of multiple catastrophes occurring and all data at your site and your on-site backup and our vault and our vault backup being lost.
